About

Merrill McGregor joined ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ South Carolina in 2024 as Policy Director, where she leads state-level advocacy and policy initiatives to protect birds, wildlife, and the habitats they depend on. Merrill works closely with state agencies, legislators, conservation partners, and local communities to advance science-driven, bipartisan solutions for land conservation, wetlands protection, coastal resilience, and climate adaptation. Before joining ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡, Merrill held leadership roles at the Coastal Conservation League, where she focused on policies to safeguard South Carolina’s coastlines, waterways, and natural resources. She brings deep expertise in coalition-building, legislative strategy, and public engagement to her work at ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡. Merrill holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston. Based in Columbia, she enjoys exploring South Carolina’s wild and scenic waterways, casting a line whenever she can, and testing her green thumb — usually with mixed results. At home, she shares her space with a pair of deeply opinionated cats.
