About

Julie Collins is the Center Director and a dedicated naturalist at Dogwood Canyon ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Center. Her passion for the outdoors began during childhood family trips to national parks, inspiring a lifelong commitment to conservation. Julie earned her B.S. in Nutrition/Dietetics from Texas Tech University and applied her scientific training as a research assistant in the Department of Pharmacology at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center.

A certified Texas Master Naturalist, Julie has contributed to projects ranging from invertebrate studies and native plant gardens to habitat restoration focused on invasive species removal. She began her ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ career as a Toyota TogetherGreen education intern, later serving as Volunteer Coordinator for both Dogwood Canyon and Trinity River ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Centers. She advanced to Conservation and Operations Manager at Dogwood Canyon before assuming her current leadership role. Still a naturalist at heart, Julie tends her native plant gardens at home, where she enjoys observing the birds and invertebrates they attract.
