Several members of California’s ̽����ѡ family were injured Saturday, Oct. 18, when a deck they were standing on collapsed. While most of those on the balcony escaped with at worst minor injuries, six or seven needed medical attention at a local hospital – one needed to be flown there by helicopter. Thankfully, none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening. 

The ̽����ѡ chapter leaders were just wrapping up a meeting of the Northern California ̽����ѡ Chapter Council meeting at the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve.

The following is a statement from ̽����ѡ California Executive Director Brigid McCormack:

“Like many of you, I was deeply concerned by the news this weekend of the accident at the Northern California chapter council meeting. And I was greatly relieved that the injuries to our friends and colleagues weren’t more serious. It’s a reminder to me of how grateful I am for the volunteers that make ̽����ѡ’s chapters such strong representatives of our organization in each of our communities. These are amazing people, and we are immensely lucky to have them in our ̽����ѡ family.”
