Be a Shorebird Steward at Hunting Island State Park! Our shorebirds need you to educate beachgoers about the importance of sharing our shore! Please read below for some important info!鈥

If you are new to stewardship at this site, upon signing up please contact volunteer lead Terese Dick for site orientation. (terese.dick@icloud.com)

Please sign up for as many 2 or 3-hour鈥痵hifts as you would like. If you do not see the shift time you would like, please message me and I will add it.
Parking Options:
Drive towards Hunting Island State Park Campground and park at the camp store. Please go inside the store and tell an attendant that you are a Shorebird Steward and need a parking pass. Place the pass on your rearview mirror before heading out to the beach. If there are attendants at the Host Hut before you park, let them know you are an 探花精选 volunteer for the day. Upon completing site orientation with site leader, you will get a designated parking pass.
Please look at the weather forecast before your shift and plan accordingly. Do not complete your shift if it is unsafe to do so.
What to bring:
Plenty of water!
Snacks
Sunscreen/bug spray/sun protection
Cell phone (to report violations or emergencies)
Binoculars, spotting scope, or camera (optional, but helps to see the birds in action)
