Located in Southwest Florida, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is the gateway to the Western Everglades鈥攑art of one of the largest wetland systems in the world. These wetlands store rainwater, clean storm runoff, send water to the aquifer, and improve water quality for Naples and Bonita Springs estuaries and beaches.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a Ramsar Convention Wetland of International Importance. It is one of 41 sites designated in the U.S. and one of 2,400 sites worldwide. The sanctuary protects the largest remaining old-growth bald cypress forest in the world. These ancient trees provide food and shelter for thousands of species, from the tallest Wood Stork to the smallest green treefrog.
